Most state laws require an individual located in the state in which your business is qualifying to be available during regular business hours to receive legal notices and other official documents from the state. This person is called the Registered Agent. If you are in the state in which you are qualifying and have your own address located in that state you do not have a need for a Registered Agent. If, for example, you live in a state other than Delaware and you wish to qualify in Delaware, you will need a Registered Agent, unless, by chance, you have a Delaware address or relative or friend who would be willing to be your Registered Agent.
